Programmes

Working for eradication of leprosy in Theni District. TB programme was undertaken from 1990. During 2002 Government approved Arogya Agam as microscopic centre under RNTCP. 5094 new leprosy patients detected & treated until December 2003. 806 TB cases were diagnosed & treated from 1966 to 2004 July

District level leprosy and tuberculosis control under national programmes the emphasis is now on integration with Government Health service

Women Development programme was initiated (including kodaikanal area ) during 1991. 246 women Self-help groups have been formed and comprising 4120 members. Arogya Agam was member in (Mahalir Thittam) Tamil Nadu Women's Development Corporation from 1998 - 2002). These group members run economic programmes from their own savings of Rs.98 lakhs in addition Rs.80 lakhs generated by groups through IFAD and 64.16 lakhs from Arogya Agam and Government Schemes

13 Milk societies were run between 1998 - 2001 (unregistered) on their SHGs effort where Arogya Agam assisted for linkage of marketing & other support needed

STD HIV/AIDS prevention & Care & support programmes were started from 1993. Aids prevention programmes with high-risk groups(sex workers), school children, public, occupational groups etc., have been undertaken. So far 3764 STI patients and 378 PLWHAs have benefited through treatment , through in-patient and outpatient , 10 PLWHAs and giving free HAART treatment - TNSACS supports for PLWHA Care & support programmes

District level positive people network; WIP Forum and Aravanigal network have been initiated by Arogya Agam for getting their rights

Arogya Agam has linkages with YRG, Chennai, Samraksha Bangalore, Sangama - Bangalore, NESA - Bangalore, etc., to work effectively on HIV/AIDS programmes

UNICEF'S School Aids Education Programme is taken up by Arogya Agam through DIET in 5 districts

Covering 396 schools with 75 school children, 394 Headmasters and 788 teachers last year & this year all schools including matriculation schools are going to be covered in 5 Districts

Tamil Nadu AIDS initiative through VHS Arogya Agam has undertaken Female sex workers and Male sex workers programme throughout Theni district and one STI clinic will be operated exclusively for Sex workers and their clients
